Students will be equipped with essential skills to champion gender diversity in computing. There will be a hands-on session where participants will design engaging outreach activities and present their ideas. The session will conclude with networking opportunity over light refreshments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Participants: <\/strong>LSBU Computer Science students<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Format: <\/strong>In-person workshop day<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Location: <\/strong>LSBU Southwark Campus, Faraday Wing Computer Labs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Wednesday<\/strong> 24th June 2026<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>AI for Good &amp; Your Future in Tech<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An inspiring morning exploring how artificial intelligence is shaping the world \u2013 and the careers of the future. Students hear from real-world professionals, take part in interactive AI activities, and discover the range of pathways available to them in the technology sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>What to Expect:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Explore real-world uses of AI in healthcare and environmental science<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meet university students and tech professionals working in London<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Learn about future pathways into digital and technology careers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take part in hands-on interactive AI activities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Gatsby Benchmarks: <\/strong>Supports Benchmarks 2, 4 and 5 \u2013 connecting curriculum learning to careers, employer engagement and higher education pathways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Audience: <\/strong>Students aged 13\u201316 (Years 9\u201310) \u2013 minimum 50% female<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Format: <\/strong>In-person morning event (up to 40 students)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Location: <\/strong>LSBU Southwark Campus, Faraday Wing Computer Labs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Partners: <\/strong>Raspberry Pi Foundation, BCS Women<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Thursday<\/strong> 25th June 2026<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Social Impact Hackathon: Code Her Future<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Teaching Computer Science to Girls in Afghanistan<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Today you are not just attending a hackathon \u2014 you are part of something that matters. Over the next few hours, your team will design a real technology solution to help girls in Afghanistan learn computer science, even though the Taliban has banned them from going to school. <strong>You don\u2019t need to be a coding expert. You need curiosity, creativity, and care.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Context<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since August 2021, the Taliban banned girls from secondary education in Afghanistan. Today, 2.5 million girls are denied schooling \u2013 it is the only country on Earth where this is the law. Despite the risk, thousands of girls attend secret underground schools.
